Born in Lyon on 12 January 1998, Julie Piga took a liking to football very early on, following the example of her big brother. She developed as a player in the youth ranks of Lyon, where she signed her first professional contract and made her debut in Division 1 on 21 May 2016 during a magnificent season for the club: Olympique won the league, Challenge de France and Women's Champions League in 2015/16. She was then loaned to Grenoble for the 2016/17 campaign before the deal was made permanent. In January 2020, she returned to the French top flight after signing for Fleury, where she scored seven goals in 63 appearances across three seasons. She arrived at AC Milan in the summer of 2023, quickly becoming a staple at the back, making 27 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign. At international level, she progressed from France's U16s to the U23s and, along the way, took part in the 2018 U20 World Cup, reaching the semi-finals. A naturalised Italian, she received her first Italy call-up in July 2023 as the Azzurre prepared for the 2023 World Cup. She is also part of the squad on its way to Euro 2025, yet to make her international debut as of June 2024.
